Professor of our department, Dr. Oleksandr Kovrov, has successfully completed a professional research internship at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (Illinois, USA) 🇺🇸🌎 — one of the world’s leading research universities. 24.11.2025 - Another achievement for our department! Our student of the Biology and Biochemistry program, Yuliia Ishchenko, together with her academic supervisor, Professor Oleksandr Kovrov, successfully completed a professional scientific internship at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg (Freiberg, Germany) My academic journey continues at Montanuniversität Leoben — a university that is a world leader in the fields of mining, metallurgy, and, especially important for me, modern environmental technologies. During the session, they measured noise levels, assessed water quality, tested nitrate content in fruits and vegetables, and worked with gas analyzers for air-quality assessment. The group showed excellent engagement and genuine interest — it was a pleasure to work with them. We were part of an international scientific event! On November 12, 2025, students, postgraduate students, and staff from our department actively participated in the International Online Symposium "Regional Resilience through International Eco-Skills Development". “Youth: Science and Innovation”, 2025. The event was held within the framework of the project "Enhancing eco-skills through cross-border cooperation between V4 and Ukraine", implemented with the support of the International Visegrad Fund. The Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies of Dnipro University of Technology hosted the XIII International Scientific and Technical Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists “Youth: Science and Innovation”, 2025. 11.11.2025 - Congratulations to Our Professor on Speaking at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences! We are proud of our colleague — Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Lyudmila Anatoliivna Pisotska — who delivered an invited lecture at a scientific session organized by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). We are proud of our lecturer Olena Borysovska and student Svitlana Shuba, who have successfully completed the training course "Fundamentals of Green Recovery of Ukraine", organized by the NGO SaveDnipro with the support of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED). Students from our department have demonstrated a high level of knowledge and successfully completed their studies at the prestigious EU4DEFA 2.0 online school, which took place from October 27 to 31, 2025. Representatives of the Department of Ecology and Technologies of Environment Protection took part in the 2nd International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists, Postgraduates, and Students “Youth Science: Innovations and Global Challenges”, held at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic.” 06.11.2025 - LECTURERS AND STUDENT SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE «EcoEducation» COURSE! We are proud to announce that our colleagues – Olena Borysovska and Daria Kulikova, as well as student Valerii Malichenko – have successfully completed the first course of the Virtual Academy "EcoEducation" from the Association of Environmental Professionals (PAEW)! 06.11.2025 - TOUR OF A MODERN LABORATORY: SCIENCE IN PRACTICE! On November 6, 2025, lecturers, students, and graduate students of our department visited the Measuring Chemical-Analytical Laboratory of the Department of Ecology of Natural Resources Development at the M.S. Polyakov Institute of Geotechnical Mechanics! The aim of this initiative is to collect personal stories from young people about their journey to their first car: their dreams, experiences and obstacles. 04.11.2025 - COMMUNITY RECOVERY, RECLAMATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL RISK MANAGEMENT Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies Yurii BUCHAVYI participated in the international conference "Ukraine - Building Local Resilience: Community Recovery, Reclamation and Environmental Risk Management", which took place from October 29-31 in Lviv. 03.11.2025 - WORKING VISIT TO FINLAND: EXPANDING INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION! Dnipro hosted an Eco-Hackathon — an inspiring event that united young people, scientists, entrepreneurs, and civic activists to create real environmental solutions for the city. The event was held within the municipal project “Dnipro Eco-Consciousness 2025” in cooperation with the NGOs “Academy of Social Research” and “Let’s Do It Ukraine”. 07.10.2025 - UKRAINIAN-GERMAN ACADEMIC COOPERATION: CASE STUDIES AND PRACTICAL LESSONS On October 7, 2025, we participated in a productive online round table dedicated to Ukrainian-German academic cooperation! The Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies has achieved a significant milestone in expanding its international environmental horizons. Professor Alexander Kovrov of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies won the international technical assistance competition ‘BridgeUSA: Exchange Programme for Sustainability and Recovery in Ukraine’ (BridgeUSA). In this unique space, which brings together hundreds of species of tropical and subtropical plants, they had the chance to see impressive collections of palms, cacti, ornamental and rare plants . Scientists and students from the Department of EPET are researching unique algae in the biocrust! At the Technical University Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany), Professor of the Department of EPET Alexander Kovrov and second-year student Yulia Ishchenko continue biological research on biocrust algae and microorganisms, which has an applied aspect for soil quality restoration. WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO LATELY? WE’VE BEEN LEARNING! The past few months have been incredibly productive for our department! Our lecturers have been continuously improving their knowledge and skills by participating in various activities. We’ve already collected over 50 certificates! Today, the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, together with the Department of Occupational Safety and Civil Protection, successfully completed an extremely valuable First Aid training based on the MARCH algorithm. Today, students (Biology and biochemistry) and lecturers of our department visited the modern production facility of «Intercorn Corn Processing Industry» LLC — one of Ukraine’s leaders in corn processing! 11.09.2025 - OUR PHD STUDENTS SUCCESSFULLY PASSED THEIR ANNUAL ASSESSMENT! Today, the department held the annual assessment of PhD students — and we are proud of each of our researchers! All of them demonstrated impressive results and received high praise from their supervisors! 10.09.2025 - WORKSHOP ON AIR QUALITY MONITORING: SHARING EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE! On September 10, our department lecturers joined the online workshop “Air Quality Monitoring – Features of Legislative Regulation from International to Local Levels”, organized by the Environmental Monitoring Center with the support of the Czech NGO “Arnika” and the NGO “Center for Security and Recovery”. 09.09.2025 - Water Monitoring in Dnipro Continues During the city's environmental patrol, a specialist from the Department of Environmental Policy of Dnipro City Council (Instagram: @ecologiya_dnepr) conducted field visits to local water bodies. We were invited to join the water sampling and analysis at three locations in Novokodatskyi District. The National Technical University "Dnipro Polytechnic" has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with "Intercorn Corn Processing Industry" — one of the most innovative food producers in our region!
On September 5, the department held an incredibly useful and inspiring meeting with Associate Professor Olha Sidashenko, who shared her experience of participating in the international program «Global Synergy through Collaborative Online International Learning 2.0» 04.09.2025 - A MILESTONE AT OUR DEPARTMENT: PAVLO LOMAZOV SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDED HIS DISSERTATION! Today is a historic day for our department and especially for Pavlo Lomazov, who successfully defended his dissertation on: "Improving the Air Quality Monitoring System of Municipal Industrial Complexes and Agglomerations" for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of 18 – Production and Technologies, specialty 183 – Environmental Protection Technologies.
Contemporary environmental challenges related to soil contamination with heavy metals, hydrocarbons, and the consequences of military actions require the search for sustainable and safe solutions. One such approach is phytoremediation – the use of plants to clean up and restore degraded areas. 02.09.2025 - MEETING ON INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE: IMPLEMENTING COIL AT THE DEPARTMENT! Last May, our colleague Olha Sidashenko participated in the professional development program «Global Synergy through Collaborative Online International Learning 2.0», organized by the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities with support from international experts from Europe and the USA.
