Participation of environmental science students in a press conference On 8 July 2021, Svitlana Barannik, a student of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, took part in the press conference ‘ECO Education in Dnipro 2021. Results. Global ECO Trends.’ The event was held as part of the ‘ECO Education in Dnipro 2021’ project. Biomimicry describes the process of studying and imitating strategies observed in nature to solve humanity's problems. In essence, nature has already found solutions to all the challenges we face. On 26 May 2021, the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies hosted the defence of qualification works by students who studied under the educational and scientific programme ‘Resource Conservation in the Mining and Metallurgical Complex’ in the speciality 183 ‘Environmental Protection Technologies’. On 26 May 2021, students and postgraduates of the National Technical University ‘Dnipro Polytechnic’ joined the event AQUA-PLOGGING ON KAYAKS, dedicated to cleaning up rubbish from the Dnipro River while kayaking, organised by students of higher educational institutions of the city. Our students, together with students from other universities in the city, collected a lot of rubbish and cleaned up the Green Island area. The event was organised by experts from the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration as part of Open Government Week 2021, with the support of the Open Government Partnership in Ukraine (OGP Ukraine). The event was co-organised and attended by Alfred Nobel University (Ukraine), the Central Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation (ZEvA) (Germany), and the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (Ukraine). The event will take place on 26 May 2021 at 15:00. On 19 May, four teams of students presented the names of their organisations, logos and abbreviated names, and justified the goals and activities of their organisations ECO-Education Dnipro 2021: Involving Young People in Local Government Environmental Projects On 14 May 2021, students and staff of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies Artem Pavlichenko and Dmytro Koshka joined the SUSTAINABLE FASHION Eco-Branch event at BubaMara Modern weather station on the roof of Building 10 In April 2021, the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection purchased a MISOL WA-1091 (MO-5055A) weather station for educational and research purposes, with the ability to regularly transmit data via wireless communication. Artem Pavlichenko, Head of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, completed training for expert group leaders organised by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance. The training took place on 5-6 May 2021 in an online format on the ZOOM platform. Sustainable development in the industrial sector Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies Oleksandr Kovrov, Associate Professor Kateryna Kolesnykova, and postgraduate students Kyrylo Zvoryhin and Serhii Krasovskyi participated in the 10th Winter School ‘Sustainable Development in the Industrial Sector,’ held by Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) (Germany) with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Comprehensive programme for environmental safety and sustainable development in the city of Dnipro On 21 January 2021, a project entitled ‘Comprehensive Programme for Environmental Safety and Sustainable Development in Dnipro for 2021-2025’ was presented in Dnipro. It includes both global measures involving large industrial enterprises in the city and local measures, such as combating flooding on certain streets. Congratulations to Bohdan Shelipov, a student of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, who is studying in the Biology educational programme, on his victory in the 200 m freestyle at the Ukrainian Swimming Championships, which took place on 2-6 December at the Meteor Sports Club. Assessment of the condition of small rivers On 18 December 2020, Yurii Buchavyi, a representative of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, together with representatives of the Environmental Policy Department of the Dnipro City Council, participated in the inspection and sampling of the Hnylokish River. Students and staff of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Environmental Management at National Technical University ‘Dnipro Polytechnic’ joined in the International Clean Beach Day.
