Dnipro University of Technology — Compliance with the Time

As part of the discipline ‘Public Environmental Activities,’ higher education students presented draft founding documents for their public environmental organisations.

On 19 May, four teams of students presented the names of their organisations, logos and abbreviated names, and justified the goals and activities of their organisations; the procedure for acquiring and terminating membership (participation) in a public association, the rights and obligations of its members (participants); the powers of the head, the highest governing body, and other governing bodies of the public association, the procedure for their formation and change of composition, the term of office, as well as the procedure for determining the person authorized to represent the public association and his or her replacement; the frequency of meetings and the procedure for decision-making by the governing bodies of the public association, including through the use of means of communication; the procedure for reporting by the governing bodies of the public association to its members (participants).

After discussing the projects presented, the students outlined the areas of activity of public organisations in the field of environmental protection. It was also noted that environmental organisations, regardless of their field of activity, including ecological ones, are called upon to represent the interests of public groups and contribute to the development of state policy and the improvement of the state management system, ensure public monitoring of such management, serve as a guarantor of democracy, and initiate processes of public participation in decision-making.
