Academic mobility of department staff Iryna Klimkina, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, participated in the International Scientific Conference ‘Future Materials – Safe Resources Supply – Circular Economy.’ Academic mobility of environmental science students Our student Kirill Zvorigin, who is studying for a master's degree in Ecology (101), attended courses at the University of Montana (Leoben, Austria) from 5 February to 30 May 2018 as part of the Erasmus+ academic mobility programme (KA107). Our student ecologist Ksenia Tsunik, who is studying for a master's degree in Ecology (speciality 101), won the competition to design an eco-logo for the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration! Congratulations to the athletes on their first international competition! Our environmental science student Alexander Chirkov took part in the Dubai Para-Badminton International 2018 international para-badminton competition! On 21 May, students from Specialised School No. 67, which focuses on ecology and economics, visited the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies at Dnipro Polytechnic National Technical University. We would like to thank Ruslan Strilets for his informative lecture, rich in practical experience, on the specifics of implementing the main provisions of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Strategic Environmental Assessment.’ On 15 May 2018, as part of the visit of the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering of the University of Zagreb (Croatia), Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Sibila Boroevich-Shostarich, to Dnipro Polytechnic National Technical University, a working meeting was held with scientists from the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies. Student Serhii Krasovskyi received a third-degree winner's diploma. Student Kateryna Sukha received a diploma from the organising committee, and Kateryna Kalinina received a participant's certificate. On April 24, 2018, NTU “DNEPR POLYTECHNICS” joined the All-Ukrainian action “Plant a Tree of Peace”! During the event, the staff and students of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies planted ten trees that were donated to the university by the Pavlohrad Chemical Plant. It is pleasant to note that out of the five projects presented at the event, two projects by Anton Mozenbach and Vladyslav Mulin, students of the Chemical and Ecological Lyceum, were prepared under the guidance of the department's staff - Artem Pavlichenko and Yuriy Buchavyi. As a result of the defense, the students proved their ability to identify and solve urgent environmental problems of industrial enterprises in our region. The examination committee decided to award the graduates with the qualification of “Ecologist” and one diploma with honors. On April 23, as part of the current stage of the DAAD project “Biotechnology in Mining - Integration of New Technologies into Educational Practice”, which is being implemented at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies in cooperation with the Freiberg Mining Academy, a practical lesson in the discipline “Soil Science” was held. For her high level of preparation and active participation in the Forum, Tatyana was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Organizing Committee. Environmental student Serhii Krasovskyi participated in the second round of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in the discipline “Environmental Safety”, which, according to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on holding the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in the academic year 2017-2018 of 06.12.2017 No. 1572, was held at the Kremenchuk National University at the Department of Environmental Safety and Nature Management on April 04-06, 2018. During the visit, the lyceum students listened to reports at section 10 “Environmental Problems of the Region” within the framework of the Ninth All-Ukrainian Scientific and Technical Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists “Scientific Spring”, which concerned the impact of environmental factors and pollutants on public health. Environmental students and teachers of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Dnipro Polytechnic” (National Mining University) participated in the seminar “Environmental Education of Students”, which was held at the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Dnipro Regional State Administration on April 6, 2018. Thanks to the cooperation of the International Office with the University of Koblenz-Landau and Iryna Shalagina, I was able to participate in the competition led by Kateryna Zhabchyk from the international Erasmus+ programme and won it. Iryna Klimkina, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, discussed working issues related to double degree programs between the National Mining University and the University of Koblenz-Landau in the field of Environmental Sciences during her business trip to the University of Koblenz-Landau (Germany). At the meeting of the Academic Council of the NMU, the Head of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies - Artem Pavlichenko was awarded the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences in the specialty 21.06.01 - Environmental Safety! At the meeting of the Academic Council of “NMU” the assistant of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies - Yurii Buchavyi was awarded the diploma of Candidate of Biological Sciences in the specialty 14.03.11 - Medical and Biological Informatics and Cybernetics!
