On May 12 the Department of Ecology celebrated the Day of Environmental Education, which was established in 1991 with the purpose of actualisation of ecological knowledge in all sciences and spheres of human activity. 27.03.2015 Field trip to the project ‘Biotechnology in mining’ On 27 March 2015, German professors K. Drebenstedt and G. Heimeyer, NMU faculty and students visited the reclamation facilities of DTEK Pavlohradvuhillya as part of the joint educational project of NMU and the Freiberg Mining Academy ‘Biotechnology in Mining’. 25.12.2014 A palaeontology lesson at the specialised school №67 On 25.12.2014, an open lesson on ‘Paleontology - Living History of the Earth’ was held at the specialised school No. 67 with the participation of the teachers of the Department of Ecology of NMU V.V. Fedotov and Y.V. Buchavy. The lesson was organised by Larisa Fedotova, a teacher of chemistry and ecology. 2.12.2014 Section №10 ‘Environmental problems of the loaded regions’ Traditionally, the Department of Ecology hosted Section 10 ‘Environmental Problems of Loaded Regions’ of the II All-Ukrainian Scientific and Technical Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists "YOUTH: SCIENCE AND INNOVATION". Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology Pavlichenko A.V. took part in the Regional Scientific and Methodological Conference ‘Ecology, Chemistry, Education 2014’, which was held on 19 November 2014 at the SHEI ‘Dnipro Polytechnic College’. 5.11.2014 Results of the ‘Landscape Design 2014’ project competition Traditionally, the Department of Ecology held the Landscape Design 2014 competition. The competition was held as part of a workshop on Landscape Architecture, during which students present their own projects created using a specialised software package called Realtime Landscaping Architect. 30.10.2014 Educational event at the Technological College of the State Automobile University On 30 October 2014, the Dnipropetrovs'k College of Technology of the State Automobile and Highway Administration hosted a public education event ‘Youth Health and Biomedical Threats in Ukraine’, which was attended by the lecturers of the Department of Ecology of the NMU, V. Fedotov and Y. Buchavyi. At the meeting of the University Administration on 28 October 2014, the Rector of NMU, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Gennadiy Pivnyak presented the university award - the medal ‘For Devotion to the University’ - to Dmytro Koshka, Assistant of the Department of Ecology of NMU, a participant of the ATO in the East of Ukraine. 15.10.2014 Congratulations on the successful defence of theses! Students-ecologists K.V. Semerich and M.A. Parshutkin took part in the preparation of an inter-university complex diploma work on the topic ‘Development of resource-saving technologies aimed at expanding the use of dusty industrial waste’. Mironova I.G., Associate Professor of the PRR Department Kononenko M.N., Associate Professor A.V. Pavlichenko. The author's team consisting of the staff of the department, Dr.Sc., Prof. V.E. Kolesnik, A.A. Yurchenko, A.A. Litvinenko, A.V. Pavlichenko published a monograph ‘Ways and means of increasing environmental safety of mass explosions in iron ore quarries by dust factor’.
