On 12 November 2020, Yurii Buchavyi, representative of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, together with representatives of the Environmental Policy Department of the Dnipro City Council, participated in the inspection and sampling of water from technical settling ponds of enterprises in the village of Krasnopillia.

Currently, in the absence of a state supervisory authority, such studies remain one of the possible methods of control by the city authorities. Next, to determine the condition of the water, they will be sent for testing to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Laboratory Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. In addition, there is a violation – the area of the settling ponds is not fenced off and there are no signs prohibiting swimming and fishing.

Yuriy Buchavy noted that sedimentation tanks can negatively affect the condition of surface water bodies, groundwater, soil and even atmospheric air during water evaporation in the summer. At the same time, various pollutants can enter the environment. Samples were taken from three technical sedimentation tanks. Even by its colour, it is clear that it differs from natural water. To resolve the situation, comprehensive research must be conducted to identify the causes of pollutant inflow and justify appropriate environmental protection technological solutions.
