On 14 May 2021, students and staff of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies Artem Pavlichenko and Dmytro Koshka joined the SUSTAINABLE FASHION Eco-Branch event at BubaMara, which was held as part of the educational project "ECO-Education Dnipro 2021: Involving Young People in Local Government Environmental Projects,‘ implemented by the public association ’Assembly of Cultural Exchange of Ukraine" with the support of the Department of Local Government, Internal and Information Policy of the Dnipro City Council, and the Department of Environmental Policy of the Dnipro City Council.
During his speech, Oleg Semenko, Director of the Environmental Policy Department of the Dnipro City Council, noted the importance of adhering to environmental friendliness in everything – lifestyle, thinking, behaviour, clothing. He drew attention to the need to involve students in environmental programmes.
An eco-friendly approach to the production and consumption of clothing and footwear is essential for preserving the environment. Conscious fashion, sustainable production, and textile recycling are the future of the Ukrainian fashion industry, according to EcoBranch organisers Hanna Zhikhareva-Tolstik and Olena Rozhko.
The speakers focused on eco-trends in contemporary fashion – the use of materials that require minimal natural resources in the manufacture of clothing and footwear, and eco-friendly packaging materials that can be recycled. They also identified the main principle of sustainable business – an environmentally friendly attitude towards consumers, partners and competitors. |
