University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (USA)
Professor of the Department of Ecology and Technologies of Environmental Protection Oleksandr Kovrov made a thematic presentation at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC, Illinois, USA) on the prospects for the development of international cooperation in the field of environmental studies. Such an opportunity for research internship is possible within the framework of the international technical assistance project “BridgeUSA: Exchange Program for Resilience and Recovery of Ukraine” (UPRR).

Presentation on the prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and the United States
The presentation highlights the areas of partnership between the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and Dnipro University of Technology (DUT) aimed at developing research and innovation in the field of green technologies and land phytoremediation.
Ukrainian scientists expand international horizons in Science and Education
The report outlines the urgent environmental challenges in Ukraine caused by the war, including soil contamination, degradation, and loss of fertility. A special applied aspect of the presentation focuses on modern phytotechnologies and vermiculture-based approaches developed at DUT for the reclamation of mining and war-damaged lands. The presentation concludes with an action plan for collaborative research, academic collaboration, and grant partnerships under the BridgeUSA Exchange Program for Ukraine’s Resilience and Recovery.
Campus Tour
From October 15 to November 11, Prof. Kovrov will participate in professional seminars and discussions with UIUC professors and scientists which will be important for gaining practical experience in the context of Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction through long-term and productive cooperation with US higher education institutions. The BridgeUSA: Ukraine Program for Resilience and Reconstruction (UPRR) is funded by the Public Diplomacy Section of the US Embassy in Kyiv with additional funding from US universities.
