Dnipro University of Technology — Compliance with the Time

🌿 STEAM Dnipro Fest: Environmental Ideas, Technologies, and Young Innovators of Dnipro

📍 On May 14, the city STEAM Dnipro Fest “Light of Innovation” was held in Dnipro as part of the All-Ukrainian Festival “STEM SPRING 2026”. The event brought together more than 250 participants — school students, teachers, young inventors, and researchers. The festival was held jointly with Dnipro University of Technology, while “Osvitnia Traiektoriia Dnipro” acted as the organizer with the support of the Department of Humanitarian Policy of Dnipro City Council @humanipolicy.

🎤 The festival was opened by Vice-Rector for Scientific-Pedagogical, Educational and Upbringing Work Ihor Nikitenko, who emphasized the importance of supporting STEAM education, developing scientific thinking, and involving young people in innovative projects.

⚖️ An Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies joined the festival jury. The evaluation of students’ projects was carried out by a diverse team of experts in accordance with the principles of objectivity and impartiality. The jury also included representatives of the Council of Postgraduate Students of Dnipro University of Technology @phd.dniprotech from various scientific fields, as well as practicing educators. Such a composition made it possible to assess the projects comprehensively — from the perspectives of science, education, practical value, and creativity.

🌱 It is especially encouraging that many student projects had a strong environmental focus. The festival featured projects related to energy efficiency, automation, 3D printing, plant research, environmental protection, and the search for technological solutions for the city of the future.

👩‍🔬 Among many interesting examples of student initiatives, we are also pleased to highlight the involvement of students of our department in the development of STEAM education. In particular, our student Anastasiia Orlenko acted as a mentor for one of the participating teams — the team of Gymnasium No. 84.

Under her guidance, the school students presented the project “Dnipro of the Future” — a model of an innovative urban space of the future. The project combines Arduino-based smart infrastructure, an autonomous eco-block with a rainwater harvesting system, climate control, and a mobile robot for waste sorting.

🚀 This is just one of many examples of how student initiative, teacher support, and modern technologies can shape a new vision of Dnipro’s environmental and innovative future.

🤝 We thank the organizers, participants, and all teams for their inspiration, ideas, and sincere interest in science! 🇺🇦
