🔬🌿 Eco-STEM in Action: A Laboratory Quest for Teachers

On June 18, the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies of Dnipro University of Technology took part in the STEM School for teachers of the city of Dnipro.

As part of the Eco-STEM track, participants joined a practical laboratory quest focused on water quality assessment. Teachers received six different water samples and, using environmental indicators, were challenged to determine their characteristics, compare the results, and identify the possible origin of each sample.

🧪 During the practical session, participants:

✔️ measured pH, mineralization, and other water quality indicators;

✔️ worked with portable environmental monitoring equipment and test kits;

✔️ compared different water samples and interpreted the results;

✔️ investigated how water quality parameters can indicate drinking, treated, tap, or natural water sources;

✔️ discussed ways of integrating environmental research into school STEM projects.

This hands-on format allowed participants not only to become familiar with scientific equipment but also to experience the role of environmental researchers by collecting data, analyzing results, and drawing their own conclusions.
