Матухно О.В.

Matukhno Olena Viktorivna - in 1999 she graduated from the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine (NMetAU) with a degree in Ecology, received a qualification of an Ecology Specialist, a diploma with honors.

In 2012 she defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences (PhD) in the major 21.06.01 - Environmental Safety. In 2013 she received the title of Associate Professor. Since 2012 she has been working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering Ecology and Labor Protection of NMetAU.

In 2019, she graduated from the Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (Dnipro) with a degree in Civil Security and the Labor Protection educational program. Master of Labor Protection, professional qualification of Labor Protection Engineer. Honors degree.

In 2018 she passed the exam at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, received a certificate of environmental auditor (Certificate EA № 233. Order of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine №452 from 26.12.18).

From 2021, the guarantor of the educational and professional program 101 Ecology (first (bachelor) level) of NTU "Dniprovska Polytechnic". 

In the academic year 2021-2024, she supervised student research papers. The works of students under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Matukhno O.V. won in 2022 and 2024 at international and national competitions of student research papers. International competition of student research papers in the specialty 101 "Ecology" (Kremenchuk) V. Mulin, gr. 183-20-1, Diploma of the first degree. 2024; International competition of student research papers "Black Sea Science" (Odesa, 2024) st. Vereshchako K., gr. 101-20-1, Diploma of the III degree; All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers "Civilian Security under Martial Law" (Kharkiv, 2024), Art. 183-20-1, Diploma of the II degree.

In 2023, at the Forum "Women's Leadership for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development" (Kyiv-Dnipro) she received the "Green Heart Leader" award (The project was implemented by the Office of Sustainable Solutions, the Professional Association of Environmentalists of the World (PAEW), and by the Department of Environmental Policy of the Dnipro City Council with the assistance of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine within the framework of the United Nations Peacebuilding and Reconstruction Program with the financial support of the European Union). 

In 2023, she received a research grant from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Forster Research Fellowship Program for Experienced Researchers).

Practical experience in the major

Executor of ecological audits at the enterprises: PJSC "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih", PJSC "Chemical Division" (Kamyanske), FDI "East Bolt Ukraine" (Dnipro), LLC "Lyubimovsky Quarry" (Dnipropetrovsk district, p. Lyubimovka), LLC "VP" Gamma "(Dnipro), Environmental audit of Vyshneve (Kyiv region), PE" Sigma "(Dnipropetrovsk district, Stepove)," Darnytska CHP "LLC" Euro-Reconstruction "(m Kyiv), ecological audit of the unfinished building of the hotel "Parus" (Dnipro), ecological audit of waste management activities in Pokrovsk (Donetsk region).

Developer of environmental impact assessment reports.

Part-time work at the following positions:

- Head of the Department of Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment of NDC LLC "Environmental Ecology";

- Head of the Department of Environmental Monitoring and Climate Change LLC "Professional Ecoaudit";

- HSE manager (manager of social, environmental and labor protection) in the management group of the investment project "Completion of the Construction of the Subway in. Dnipropetrovsk”, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

In June 2022, she completed a training course from the National Accreditation Body of United Kingdom (UKAS) on the application of the updated ISO/IEC 17029:2019 and ISO 14065:2020 standards in the accreditation of greenhouse gas assertion verification bodies. The corresponding certificate was received.

2022-2023 – visiting scientist at the German Environmental Agency (Umweltbundesamt).

2023-2024 - a member of the working group for the preparation of proposals for the Best Available Technique (BAT) Reference Document (BREF) for the production of iron and steel, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

2023- 2024 - a member of the working group for the preparation of proposals for the Best Available Technique (BAT) Reference Document (BREF) for the production of non-ferrous metallurgy, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

Expert of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, majoring in 101 Ecology, 183 Environmental Protection Technologies, 263 Civil Security.

Teaching experience over 18 years. She is the author and co-author of more than 100 publications, 4 patents for inventions of Ukraine, 2 author's works and several dozen methodological developments in environmental disciplines.

Research activities

The main scientific activity is related to thematic areas:

-         climate policy;

-         decarbonization of industry;

- increasing the level of environmental safety of industrial enterprises;

- introduction of the best available technologies in Ukraine;

- environmental aspects of sustainable development.
