In January 2022, the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection launched a series of microbiological studies for educational and scientific purposes. Thanks to the support of the DAAD project ‘EcoMining’ (coordinators Prof. Kovrov O.S. and Assoc. Prof. Klimkina I.I.), modern equipment for the microbiological laboratory was purchased – an autoclave (steam steriliser), a centrifuge, distiller, nutrient media, special laboratory glassware and instruments, etc. 

During the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year, biology students (OPP 091 Biology) within the framework of the discipline ‘Microbiology’ (lecturers Assoc. Prof. Klimkina I.I., Asst. Fedotov V.V.) will acquire skills in working with pure cultures of microorganisms, methods of their isolation from the environment, identification of microorganisms, and staining of fixed preparations.

The introduction of microbiological research at Dnipro Polytechnic opens up opportunities for scientific and educational projects in environmental microbiology, biotechnology in mining, biomining, and biological safety.
