A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with Academician of the International Academy of Sciences for Ecology and Life Safety, renowned expert in the field of environmental auditing , Professor Grigory Shmatkov, Director of the Limited Liability Company Scientific and Production Enterprise ‘Centre for Environmental Auditing and Clean Technologies’.

The purpose of the Memorandum is to ensure the effective use of scientific and production potential, to train highly qualified specialists to solve pressing problems in the field of ecology, environmental protection, development and implementation of environmental protection projects, as well as to carry out joint activities with the involvement of persons working and studying at NTU ‘DP’ in the fields of ecology, environmental protection technologies, biology, and other related specialities.

The subject of the Memorandum is cooperation between the Parties in the field of introducing qualitatively new conditions for educational activities in higher education in combination with the intensification of scientific activity, deepening the interaction between production and the educational process, training a new generation of highly qualified specialists to solve pressing problems of sustainable development of territories, industrial enterprises in various sectors of the economy, as well as the implementation of environmental projects and programmes.

The memorandum provides for cooperation between the parties in the following areas:

- combining efforts to develop higher education and science based on innovative educational technologies, developing and continuously updating the doctrine of quality higher education, participating in the development and improvement of educational standards and programmes;

- consolidation of efforts to optimise methods for the rational use of natural resources, the efficient use of natural resources, and the development of innovative environmental protection systems and technologies;

- improvement of forms and methods of conducting scientific research in priority areas of scientific development in conjunction with educational programmes;

- improving the forms and methods of conducting scientific research in the field of nature management and rational use of natural resources;

- practical training of students and internships for employees;

- creating conditions for the completion of coursework and qualification work by higher education applicants;

- exchange of scientific materials, experience and specialists with the aim of solving current problems in the field of environmental auditing, rational use of natural resources, conducting internships, seminars, consultations;

- development and coordination of actions to implement the results obtained in the educational and scientific process, environmental protection and production activities of enterprises in various sectors of the economy;

- preparation and implementation of joint research projects and grants within the framework of European, national and regional programmes;

- joint preparation and publication of scientific articles, monographs, thematic methodological manuals, etc.;

- conducting joint research work on the development and improvement of water treatment and drainage technologies, wastewater treatment;

- standardisation, methodological support of basic and auxiliary methods of water purification and disinfection;

- conducting joint research and development work on the development of rational water supply and wastewater disposal schemes for industrial enterprises that ensure the comprehensive use of water resources;

- exchange of scientific and technical information, literature, periodicals and articles published by the parties;

- regularly informing the partner about scientific seminars, conferences, symposiums, round tables and providing opportunities for representatives of the partner party to participate in them.
