Department of Ecology and Technologies on Environmental Protection was founded in 1998 for bachelor trainings in the area of education 6.040106 "Ecology, Environmental Protection and Balanced Nature Management" and master preparations in specialty 7.8.04010601 "Ecology and environmental protection".
Since 2016 bachelor and master students are trained in accordance with specialty 101 "Ecology".
In December 2016 the Department has got a licensed for bachelor and master trainings in the frame of new specialty 183 "Environmental technologies".
Trainings are provided by 3 Professors, 6 Associate Professors, 2 Senior Teachers and 5 Assistants.
For NMU students of other specialties following disciplines are taught: "Fundamentals of Ecology" "Ecology", " Ecology in Professional Area", " Mining Ecology", "Fundamentals of Soil Science and Landscape", "Monitoring and Land Protection", "Transport Ecology" etc.
The Department activity is aimed at providing professional trainings in the field of environmental protection and balanced nature use in order to guarantee the safe environment for life and health of human population and introduction of environmentally balanced system for sustainable environment and conservation of natural ecosystems.
Specialty "Ecology" is interdisciplinary and based on the fundamentals of the various sciences: technical, chemical, biological, agricultural, geographic and other. Up-to-date environmental education at the University is based on the principles of partnership with other departments and faculties of the University, leading research and educational institutions of Ukraine and from abroad. That is why environmental education at the Department of Ecology and Technologies on Environmental Protection is being provided by a powerful scientific and pedagogical potential.
Department operates the PhD study on the specialty 21.06.01 "Environmental Safety" (Engineering Science).
Since 2001 a research and training center of ecological safety for human and environment "Environmental Safety" has been established.
To increase research activity of students and young scientists a Student Scientific Eco-Centre named after Prof. V.A. Dolinsky was created.
Department has research cooperation with the State Enterprise “Research-and-Industrial Association "Pavlograd Chemical Plant", PJSC "DTEK Pavlogradugol", regional hospital on physiotherapy "Salty Liman", Zaporizhzhya National University, Lviv National University named after Ivan Franko and others.
In 2013 a Department of Environmental Technogenic Safety was created on the basis of the State Enterprise “Research-and-Industrial Association "Pavlograd Chemical Plant".
Department has a subject auditorium named after Prof. G.A. Myroshnyk (10/711) and a computer class (10/710) for 20 working places.
The main activity of the Department is connected with the Statute of the State Higher Educational Institution “National Mining University” (NMU), the current legislation, the Rectorat decisions and the Program of MNU development for the period up to 2020.
Department of Ecology and Technologies on Environmental Protection is guided by the Constitution of Ukraine, Laws of Ukraine "On Education" and "On Higher Education", "On the Basis of the State Policy in the Sphere of Science and Scientific and Technical Activity", "On the Scientific and Technical Activities", "On the Priority Directions in Science and Technology", the Decree of President of Ukraine, Decrees and Orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, normative documents of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the requirements of the Bologna Declaration, the University Statement and the Concept of Education, Research and Innovation Activities of the University. Department is also guided by the Law of Ukraine "On Environmental Protection", Law of Ukraine "On main principles (policies) of the State Environmental Policy of Ukraine for the period up to 2020", the National Environmental Plan of Actions on the Environmental Protection for 2011-2015, Concept of Environmental Education, approved by the decision of the Collegium of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (protocol number 13/6-19 from 20.12.2012), the outcome document of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development "Rio+20", UN Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development and other documents.
