Dmytro Grabovets PhD student at the Department of Ecology and Technologies of Environmental Protection, Dnipro University of Technology. He graduated from Dnipropetrovsk University of Economics and Law (now Alfred Nobel University) in 2007 with a Master’s degree in Accounting and Auditing. In 2012–2014 he completed a two-year professional training programme in software development at IT STEP Academy. He has worked in information technology since 2008, serving as a systems and network administrator, IT project manager, product manager and deputy chief technology officer. He led the development and implementation of software systems for accounting and customer relationship management. In 2015–2026, he worked at an international technology company that develops solutions for 3D scanning of premises and visualization based on smartphones, and AI development. He progressed from research and development (R&D) project manager to head of the innovation department. He now applies his experience of working with spatial data, computational processes and interdisciplinary teams in environmental research. Since 2021, he has been dealing with fire in two forms: as a scientist, he studies wildfires in Ukraine, and as a executive coach, he helps leaders recover from burnout. He is the co-founder and head of a startup creating a decision support system for wildfires, oriented toward the needs of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU). He studies atmospheric air quality, its impact on public health and the spread of smoke from fires. The main areas of his work include: ● fire detection using satellite data; ● modeling of fire spread and calibration of models based on historical fires; ● creation of a vegetation fuel map of Ukraine; ● calculation of atmospheric dispersion of smoke and radionuclides; ● forecasting the spread of a radioactive cloud in the event of an accident at a nuclear power plant (NPP); ● inventory of emissions from wildfires in Ukraine. Since 2022, he has been a volunteer.
