Dnipro University of Technology Joins the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities for Environmental Protection Research

Dnipro University of Technology has joined the Environmental Doctoral & Research Alliance (EDRA), established through a Memorandum of Cooperation signed by representatives of 12 Ukrainian higher education institutions.

The Alliance aims to create a shared interuniversity research and educational environment focused on advancing environmental protection technologies, training highly qualified specialists and early-career researchers, and combining the scientific potential of Ukrainian universities to address pressing environmental challenges.

The Memorandum outlines several key areas of cooperation:

• Conducting joint scientific research and implementing educational and innovative projects in environmental protection;
  
• Promoting academic mobility and organizing joint courses, summer schools, training programmes, and scientific events;
  
• Sharing research infrastructure, laboratory equipment, and scientific data;
  
• Supporting early-career researchers, PhD students, and interdisciplinary research;
  
• Strengthening international scientific partnerships and developing innovative environmental protection technologies.
  

Particular attention will be given to advancing doctoral education, including the development of a joint interuniversity PhD programme and a doctoral school focused on modern environmental protection technologies.

For the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies at Dnipro University of Technology, participation in the Alliance creates new opportunities for research and educational development. Cooperation with partner universities will facilitate knowledge exchange, the integration of recent environmental research findings into teaching, the expansion of academic mobility opportunities, and the involvement of students in collaborative research initiatives.

Such cooperation is particularly important in the context of Ukraine's environmental recovery, addressing the consequences of industrial pollution and war-related environmental damage, developing environmentally safe technologies, and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Bringing together the scientific and educational potential of Ukrainian universities is an important step towards strengthening environmental research in Ukraine and preparing specialists capable of developing effective solutions for environmental protection and restoration.
