Dnipro University of Technology — Compliance with the Time

🌿 Environmental scientists from the Department joined a geological expedition – conducted background monitoring of air and water

Staff members of the Department of Ecology at Dnipro University of Technology took part in an off-site geological excursion and simultaneously carried out experimental measurements of air and water quality, aiming to determine the background pollution levels outside the city of Dnipro.

📍 Three monitoring sites:

  • An exhausted quarry – air measurements
  • A cheese dairy near the Sura River (Camping “Zelenyy Hai” – zelenyygay.com) – air measurements + water sampling
  • Apolonivskyi Volcano – air measurements on a natural elevation that is a geological landmark
  • 📊 Parameters measured:
    • Dust (PM): 0.03–0.07 ppm
    • CO₂: ~500 ppm
    • CO: up to 6 ppm
    • Formaldehyde: 0 ppm
    • Radiation: within acceptable limits

🌱 What makes the “Zelenyy Hai” farm environmentally friendly?
The “Zelenyy Hai” cheese dairy adheres to the principles of sustainable management: it uses natural materials, minimizes environmental impact, utilizes solar panels, and is located in a preserved landscape area. This makes it an ideal site for background measurements and an example of environmentally responsible activity 🤩

🧪 A water sample taken from the Sura River near the cheese dairy will be analyzed in the laboratory for chemical composition and compliance with environmental standards. Organoleptically, however, the water appears clean 🤗

✅ The collected data will form the basis for establishing a background profile of air quality, which will make it possible to more accurately assess the situation within the city and to identify local sources of pollution.
