Congratulations to Professor Alexander Stanislavovich Kovrov of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies on the successful defence of his doctoral dissertation on ‘MANAGEMENT OF LANDSLIDE HAZARDS OF NATURAL SLOPES AND TECHNOGENIC SLOPES WITH HETEROGENEOUS STRUCTURE IN CHANGING GEOCLIMATIC CONDITIONS’, submitted for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences in two specialities: 05.15.09 – ‘Geotechnical and Mining Mechanics’ and 21.06.01 – ‘Environmental Safety’.

Based on the newly established patterns of moisture saturation influence on the strength of loamy rock masses, criteria, improved assessment methods, and a set of geomechanical and geoecological models, the relevant scientific -technical problem of predicting the stability and managing the landslide hazard of natural slopes and man-made slopes with a heterogeneous structure in changing geoclimatic conditions at the regional and local levels, which is important for ensuring the ecological and man-made safety of Ukraine.

In accordance with Order No. 872 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 20 June 2019, Oleksandr Stanislavovych Kovrov was awarded the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences in the specialities 05.15.09 – Geotechnical and Mining Mechanics and 21.06.01 – Environmental Safety .
