On 29 March 2013, the Department of Ecology hosted the section ‘Ecological Problems of the Region’ of the Scientific and Technical Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists of Ukraine ‘Scientific Spring - 2013’.

During the section ‘Environmental Problems of the Region’ 31 reports of students, postgraduates and young scientists were presented.

For the third year in a row, students of universities of I-II accreditation levels, winners of the regional scientific and practical conference EcoChem-2013, have been actively participating in the section. Students of technical schools and colleges from Dneprodzerzhinsk, Novomoskovsk and Dnipro presented 11 reports aimed at solving environmental problems related to industrial pollution of soil, air and water bodies.

During the conference, 10 masters and 7 specialists in environmental science had the opportunity to test the results of their research in the course of their diploma theses.

The papers presented at the conference were of a high standard and contained a set of technical solutions that, if implemented, will help solve environmental problems in Ukraine's industrial regions.

The students' participation in the conference provided them with the opportunity to adapt to public speaking and use the comments that arose during the discussion of the reports to improve further research and enhance the quality of their theses.
