INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
Scientists of the department actively cooperate with foreign scientific and educational institutions in Germany, England, Hungary and other countries: • Technical University “Freiberg Mining Academy” (Germany); • Montanuniversitat Leoben (Austria); • Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus (Germany); • Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K. Satpayev (Kazakhstan); • Krakow Mining and Metallurgical Academy (Poland); • University of Koblenz-Landau (Germany); • University of Cambridge. Associate Professor Iryna Klimkina received a grant from Open Society Foundation (Open Society Institute) and Cambridge University within the framework of the Hospitality College of the University of Cambridge for an internship (July 15 to August 12, 2013) at Cambridge University, School of Biological Sciences, Gordon Institute, Laboratory of Cell Biology (England).
Associate Professor Oleksandr Kovrov received DAAD grant to conduct research in the RWTH Aachen Technical University for 1 month (November 01, 2013 to December 1, 2013). Research topic is related to modeling geotechnical processes in natural slopes and man-made slopes as well as comprehensive assessment of the slope stability in conditions of influence of exogenous factors, the forecast of landslide-prone situations. During the internship he presented some scientific and educational achievements of the State University “NMU”, established new contacts and discussed opportunities for cooperation in research and academic mobility programs for students and teachers of NMU. In 2013, Associate Professor Iryna Klimkina had professional business trip to the University Moctar Badji, Annaba of May 8, 1945 (Algeria) in the City of Guelma. Also she participated in the second international workshop on mining and environmental issues at Baherardzh University of Algerian People's Democratic Republic.
Associate Professor Oleksandr Kovrov participated in professional exchange program “Accreditation as a tool for quality assurance” in the delegation of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Washington City, Austin (Texas), Raleigh (North Carolina) and Boston (Massachusetts), USA (October 18 - November 1, 2014).
Associate Professor Oleksandr Kovrov took part in lecturing courses for undergraduates and doctoral students of Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Kazakh National Technical University named after K.I. Satpayev (Almaty, Kazakhstan) as part of a research grant (November 10-27, 2014).
NMU received a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the implementation of scientific and educational project on “Biotechnology in mining - the integration of new technologies into educational practice”. Educational project coordinators are: from Technical University “Freiberg Mining Academy” (Germany) – Prof. Hermann Heilmeier and Prof. Michael Shloemann; from NMU – Associate Professors of the Department of Ecology Iryna Klimkina and Oleksandr Kovrov. In March 2016, Professor Hermann Heilmeier gave a series of lectures on the issues of Biomining and Phytoremediation at contaminated areas. Theoretical course was conducted with a group of 35 students from the Department of Ecology, Underground Mining and Open Cast Mining. The lecture dealt with the use of plants for the needs of hiperaccumulation and phytoremediation and extraction of potentially useful metals from coal and ore wastes. Lecture of Prof. Hermann Heilmeier dedicated to Biomining and Phytoremediation at contaminated areas
Project duration: 01/01/2015 - 12/31/2018. Partner universities: TU "Freiberg Mining Academy" and the National Universities "National Mining University". Funding source – German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Project objectives: Bachelor of new 4 and 2 master disciplines of Biomining; implementation of laboratory work and research NSU students at the TU "Freiberg Mining Academy"; dual leadership master's works; organization of educational excursions to industrial sites; roundtables on the subject of the project; creating the NSU primary laboratory with Biomining; organizing the international scientific conference on the application of biotechnology in mining. In August and September 2015 as part of the Faculty of Mining 6 students for 5 weeks passed practical training at the Institute of Biological Sciences TU “Freiberg Mining Academy”.
Department of Ecology has submitted proposals concerning cooperation with leading universities of Kazakhstan in the field of research: Kazakh National Technical University. K. Satpayev; Kazakh National Mining University named after Al-Farabi; Central University.
Associate Professors Olena Borysovska and Artem Pavlychenko received certificates of “Teacher in International Engineering Education” by ING PAED IGIP.
