Associate Professor Oleksandr Kovrov took part in lecturing courses for undergraduates and doctoral students of Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Kazakh National Technical University named after K.I. Satpayev (Almaty, Kazakhstan) as part of a research grant (November 10-27, 2014).

NMU received a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the implementation of scientific and educational project on “Biotechnology in mining - the integration of new technologies into educational practice”. Educational project coordinators are: from Technical University “Freiberg Mining Academy” (Germany) – Prof. Hermann Heilmeier and Prof. Michael Shloemann; from NMU – Associate Professors of the Department of Ecology Iryna Klimkina and Oleksandr Kovrov.

In March 2016, Professor Hermann Heilmeier gave a series of lectures on the issues of Biomining and Phytoremediation at contaminated areas. Theoretical course was conducted with a group of 35 students from the Department of Ecology, Underground Mining and Open Cast Mining. The lecture dealt with the use of plants for the needs of hiperaccumulation and phytoremediation and extraction of potentially useful metals from coal and ore wastes.
